Facebook’s Metaverse: New Name & Logo And What We Know More
Shane Brown · October 29, 2021
Thursday was a big day for Facebook. After contemplating many things, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg finally made the announcement of changing his company’s name to Meta Platform Inc. In explaining the rebrand, he said that Facebook no longer encompasses what they do anymore. According to Zuckerberg, Facebook is now not only a screen where people can see their friends and families posting posts; instead, it has become a virtual environment where people can actually enter. Essentially, Facebook has become a virtual world to connect with people, using virtual reality headsets, augmented reality glasses, and other technological devices. We understand that most of you reading might not understand the term - Meta. Meta is the term taken from Metaverse, which means virtual universe.

What Is Metaverse?

Metaverse is a virtual generated space where people can interact with one another. The concept of Metaverse is taken from the universe we live in. We know about the universe our world belongs to, but what if we say that there is a universe inside the computer system as well. To put it simply, the virtual reality we are aware of, Metaverse is an upgraded version.

Facebook’s Meta: New Logo

With the change of name, Facebook has also decided on changing its logo. The new logo design looks like infinity symbolizing the vastness of the universe.

However, Facebook, the app where you share posts and register likes and comments, will remain the same. Nor are all the other social media applications like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

In addition, the company’s corporate structure won’t change, but on December 1, its stock starts trading under the new name.

How Meta Will Change Facebook?

With the rebrand to Meta, people are expecting some new changes in who they use Facebook. In fact, Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated a video that shows people interacting on the platform as avatars and being transported to the digital version of different places.

Mark Zuckerberg also added that the foundation of Meta will be built on safety and privacy. He pledged to ensure that the Mets will have privacy standards, disclosures, and parental control about data use.
